Basket Maker

This farmer still lives in a lean-to he built when the community moved to the new land, so that his new house can be used by visiting guests. We thank him for his hospitality, and he tells us about combing the hills of the farm in search of suitable materials for the baskets he’s making. Paradise Farm is at a lower elevation than where these farmers used to live, and has different native plants. Still, he’s confident in his work. These baskets are good for carrying 80 kilos (176 lbs.) of ahuyama, he says.
