Poor nutrition can have a terrible effect on dental health. Rodrigo’s mother was seven months pregnant with him when soldiers forced the family from their home in 1997. The first four years of his life were spent living in the overcrowded public shelter in Dabeiba. Without land to grow food for themselves or other reliable sources of income, the community members suffered terrible food shortages.
