Squash Toss

Squash Toss

The market truck has finally arrived! For days, Balsita families growing ahuyama have been harvesting the heavy squash and bringing it from their far flung fields to the road at the center of the community, the only part of their farm that’s accessible by truck. They don’t have their own means of transport, so they depend on middle-men to bring their harvests to market. The produce is sometimes taken as far as Medellín, a five hour drive from here.
